2023 FUN for the Owls!

What is FUN for the Owls?

Fun for the Owls is a fundraiser, hosted by the Vernon PTA, that raises money to pay for enrichment programs, equipment, supplies, STEAM education, field trips, library diversification and more for our kids! A couple years ago we switched things up a bit, so our Fun Run has been more focussed on the “fun”. Think obstacle course and activity stations added to the run route, to keep the kids moving and having fun doing so.

This year’s FFTO will be on Friday, 9/29/23.

How does FUN for the Owls work?

The event will take place on Friday, September 29th, and each grade will be assigned a time slot for their event. Students ask friends, family and neighbors to sponsor them in participating, by pledging any dollar amount. Pledges can be made by check/ cash, or via our website (link below). The PTA is a 501c3, so donations are considered tax deductible! Your student will receive a pledge form in order to keep track of donations. Any donations made online should be included on their pledge form in order to be counted for the drawing (explained below). The form should be turned in, along with any cash/ check pledges, to their teacher or the PTA lock box in the main office, by Wednesday, Nov. 1st*.

*pledges turned in after this date are welcomed & appreciated, however students will not be given extra entries to the drawing after 11/01/23!

Now, for the added FUN…

Each student will be entered into a drawing, just for participating. For each pledge collected, students will earn an extra entry, no matter the dollar amount of the pledge. So, for example, if Celia’s neighbor pledges $1, Celia will get (1) added entry. If Celia’s grandparent pledges $40, Celia will get another (1) added entry, and so on. This allows all students to have a chance at winning a prize! There will be a variety of prizes available, from Vernon swag to gift certificates from local businesses. Our hope is to encourage our kiddos to get excited about the event, as well as excited about raising money for their school, no matter how much they raise!

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

It takes a village - Make a pledge, in support of your favorite Vernon student(s) as they participate in the 2023 FUN for the Owls.

Pay by cash/ check* and either turn it in to a Vernon family to drop off in their pledge envelope to the school, or mail it to the Vernon PTA, 2044 NE Killingsworth Ave, Portland, OR 97211.

*All checks to be made out to the Vernon PTA must include your student’s name as well as their teacher’s name in the memo line.
