FAMILIES OF BLACK STUDENTS - 1st Monday of each month

We are committed to creating an all-inclusive school environment to increase overall academic achievement for our students, and provide activities and support for our Families of Black Students. During these times, more than ever, it’s important to create a safe space for our community, to voice our ideas, our concerns, our vision for our school, so that we can thrive together.

We bring strength to Vernon when our voices are heard. Please join us!

NEURODIVERSITY ADVOCACY GROUP - 2nd Wednesday of each month

The Neurodiversity Advocacy Group provides a safe, judgement-free space to discuss challenges and how we as parents, caregivers, teachers and our community can better support neurodiverse children. Our group is about sharing stories, discussing challenges and resources about our children experiencing trauma, anxiety, autism, ADD, ADHD, learning disabilities, sensory issues, dyslexia, etc.  We encourage parents and caregivers to join if they are experiencing any of the following:

* Are you a parent/caregiver that needs support and looking for how to access resources?

* Your child is distracted or dysregulated and having challenges at home/school?

* Your child is on an IEP or 504 plan (or you are not sure if your child needs one)

* Does your child struggle with inattention, reading or other learning challenges, behavior issues at home or school?

* Does your child have a hard time with unstructured time at school (e.g. recess, lunch)?

* Does your child struggle to make/keep friends?
